Australian holiday-makers have gone wild over a genius camping feature that could save countless headaches across the country.
A woman on a holiday in Victoria on Thursday shared a photo online of what has since been deemed the “best idea ever”.
She revealed that at Windmill Park’s Big4 caravan park in Ballarat, there were “eight totally fenced sites for our furbabies to enjoy”.
In the photo she shared, a golden retriever sat quietly inside a sturdy steel enclosure that extended a few metres around all sides of its owner’s Winnebago.
The park also has an a dedicated dog swimming area.
Each enclosure can host up to six people from $50 per night, with a regular powered site slightly cheaper from $41 per night.
Big4 said given all its parks were independently owned, it was up to each owner to decide on what additional features they would offer.
A similar offering is made about an hour away at the Acacia Caravan Park in Ararat where there are multiple powered sites with sturdy fences to host a caravan and vehicle, plus a dog.
While fenced enclosures don’t yet seem too common, judging by the response to the photo, they would certainly be popular.
“Needs to be more of this. Good for them to do this,” one response read.
“Would be great as a standard for all parks,” another added.
“Love it. so dog friendly,” someone else wrote, with another saying: “WOW that is brilliant”.
In NSW, the Capital Country Caravan Park, in Sutton just over the ACT border in NSW, also has “dog freedom sites”, which are powered sites with a secure fence.
Evans Head, on the far north coast on NSW, has the Reflections Holiday Park with five dog-friendly sites that have their own dog enclosure at the rear.
The Summit 1770 in Agnes Water, in Queensland’s Gladstone region, has three dog-friendly one-bedroom cottages, two fenced dog runs available to all guests, a separate large and small one, plus three powered sites with their own fenced dog pen.
