James Cummings can pick up his second group race in Perth in a fortnight with veteran Kementari, according to form analysts.
Gun jockey Jamie Kah is flying back from her successful midweek mission to Hong Kong to ride the Cummings-trained Kementari in the $1.5 million Gold Rush at Ascot on Saturday.
Cummings also has Vilana entered in the 1400m Group 3 event, but the four-year-old stallion has been racing against the clock to overcome a hoof ailment since being scratched from the Winterbottom.
Ben Melham has been booked to ride Vilana.
Punters Inside Run form analysts Nick Hluchaniuk and Matthew Campbell have both tipped Kementari on top, believing he can follow up from Godolphin stablemate Paulele’s Group 1 victory in the Winterbottom two weeks ago.
“This is the race Kementari has been sent over for,” said Hluchaniuk, of punters.com.au.
“The gap between runs is perfect for him given how well he goes fresh and he was a winner there when he visited back in 2020.”
Betr has listed Vilana a $4.20 favourite, Kissonallforcheeks at $4.80, followed by Kementari at $7.50.
“The market looks to have it right with the top three, who are all proven at the distance,” Hluchaniuk said.
